My Printer Stand Jukebox Conversion
After reading several threads about jukeboxes, I have decided to take the easy route and just sorta clone one already done. I choose to clone the one by 'ADIS'. http://www.adisweb.com/jukebox/index.html
Why? Because I had this printer stand I bought about 6 years ago and it just had a printer sitting on top of it with nothing in the bottom. We never really use the printer. As you can see, we do keep the bottom locked to keep my 3yr old out of it. Although nothing is in there, but he makes sure he opens and closes the doors about 500 times a day without the locks.
So, off to my local hardware store I go......
My store of choice? Ace Hardware.
Parts list:
PIII 1ghz old Gateway computer - have had this sitting in closet for about 4 years256 mb ram - what was in it
onboard video and audio
XP SP3 after updating
E-Touch V5.22 - $25.00
Griffin Powermate Knob - $50.00 at Microcenter ***OUCH!***
Logitech X-240 Speakers & SUB - Seems to be the best of the low budget speaker-sub combo's out there. $35.00 at Microcenter
And... a 15" ELO Touchscreen from eBay. $103 after shipping. I must say, the seller was from Oklahoma and very well packed and FedEX got it to me in 2 days.
Decorative screen for a speaker grill - $24.95 ***OUCH***
1 piece of 7 foot door casing (trim molding) - $7.50
1 can of Cabot brand mixed stain to match the existing wood - $2.95
*Note : I had to take the door off to match the stain at the hardware store.
Total = $248.40
Not to expensive but about $48.40 over what I thought it would cost.
The Printer Stand
After getting this printer stand down stairs, I had to disassemble the top.Front:
Back:
With top Removed:
Then start to make a stand for the very well packed ELO Touchscreen
It was packed in the bubble wrap, but also in one of those spray foam anti-shock packing boxes.
Now for a stand for the touchscreen Page 2 <---- Click here
