My Printer Stand Jukebox Conversion Page 5

After powering back up here are some finished pics.

With Freebox v 4.0.19 (Now know as E-Touch)

A pic this morning but I really need to get another camera.

When I get a better camera to use, I'll post some better pics.

That's my Jukebox! About 7 1/2 hours total time. I had to spend about 14 hours prior to building this thing with the computer updating and Freebox setup. MP3 ID3ing isn't the quickest job. I use Audioshell to retag all my MP3's. www.softpointer.com/audioshell.htm

I'm also not 100% happy with the Griffin Powermate. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have installed the latest drivers, but it seems as others are having issues with this thing too! For $50.00 and to work only part time, I'm just not happy!

I have UPdated my simple jukebox. I've added some lights, cooling fans & a little wire management. I also had to replace my motherboard. Now I remember why the old one was in the closet for the last four years.

2 - 6 inch Lumin Disks from good 'ole Spencer's - $20.00 each
1 led light bar in a tube from Spencer's - $25.00
2 144mm blue led fans from Microcenter - $6.00 each
1 Biostar micro-atx motherboard P4M900-M7 FE from Microcenter - $50.00
1 PC5300 DDR2 memory 1gb from Microcenter - $10.00
1 pkg of cable management ties for $2.00

So now my $250.00 jukebox has turned into a $387.00 jukebox.

I already had 4 I-Pac's at the house and I added 1 to the jukebox just for the [ESC] key to be able to use the 'options' screen in E-Touch (Freebox). I know there is a option to display the 'options' screen, but NO WAY am I going to let people other than me have access to the 'option' screen. I know I can just hook a keyboard up to it, but I want to be keyboard free! I just put the button on the back where no one other than me knows about it. Might be an expensive button, but it is peace-of-mind to know no one is messing with the 'options'.

***UPDATE*** 3/20/09

Since my build I was informed by Barry Barcrest (E-Touch Programmer) that you can access the option via a pin setting. Now I no longer use the IPAC/button setup!

I did explore the use of the Griffin Powermate long-click  feature for access to the 'options' screen, but the Powermate is only about 85% reliable and if I did use it, I just know someone will hold the button down long enough to access the 'options' menu.

All is happy with it and my 3 year old loves the light show.
